Message from the President:
An old bachelor fishing partner of my father once told me that, financial success could be simply stated as; having enough money to buy the best fishing tackle available, and having enough time to wear it out. Of course he didnt have a wife to keep him happy, or kids to feed and educate, but even so, I think he had a good point. If one has the money to buy a nice fishing rod but no time to use it, then it is a worthless piece of clutter gathering dust in a closet.
Likewise, if one has lots of time but no money to buy tackle, then why go fishing. Either way no fish are being caught! I think the point he was trying to make to me was, there needs to be a sense of balance in our lives.
One of the great advantages of being self employed piano technicians is the ability to control our own work load. Although Im sure that at times we all feel enslaved to our wrist watch, every once in a while, its nice to shout out at the world
I AM THE BOSS OF MY TIME!! Even if it isnt true.
Its summertime! The ponds are full! Slow down and go fishing once in a while!
Ill see you in Kansas City!

Request for technical support:
Dear technical support:
Last year I upgraded from Girlfriend 7.0 to wife 1.0. I soon noticed that the new program began unexpected child processing that took up a lot of space and valuable resources. In addition, Wife 1.0 installed itself into all other programs and now monitors all other system activity. Applications such as Poker Night 10.3, Football 5.0, Hunting and Fishing 7.5 and Golfing 3.6.
I cant seem to keep Wife 1.0 in the background while attempting to run my favorite applications. Im thinking about going back to Girlfriend 7.0 , but the uninstall doesnt work on Wife 1.0. PLEASE HELP!
Reply:
Dear troubled user; This is a very common problem. Many people upgrade from Girlfriend 7.0 to wife 1.0 thinking it is just a Utilities! And Entertainment progam. Wife 1.0 is an OPERATING SYSTEM and is designed by its creator to run EVERYTHING!!! It is impossible to delete Wife 1.0 and return to Girlfriend 7.0. It is impossible to uninstall, or purge from programs once installed.
You cannot go back to G 7.0 because W 1.0 is designed not to allow this. Look in the manual under Warnings-Alimony /Child Support. We recommend that you keep W 1.0 and work on improving the situation. We suggest installing the program, Yes Dear to alleviate software augmentation.
The best course of action is to enter the command C:APOLOGIZE! Because You will have to give the APOLOGIZE command for the application to return to normal.
W1.0 is a great program but high maintenance. W1.0 comes with support programs such as, Clean and Sweep 3.0, Cook It 1.5 and Do Bills 4.2. Be careful how you use these programs however. Improper use will cause system launch Nag Nag 9.5. Once this happens the only way to improve W 1.0 is to purchase additional software, we suggest Flowers 2.1 and Diamonds 5.0.
WARNING!!! DO NOT under any circumstances install Secretary With Short Skirt 3.3. This app is not supported by W1.0 and will cause irreversible damage to the operating system! Good Luck, Tech Support.

Difficult week?
I recently had a week that was interesting to say the least. A string of calls to tune Wurlitzer spinets. In fact, one day I had 3 in a row all major pitch raising or lowering . The recent months of extreme wet weather preceded by 2 years of extreme dry caused them to be very sharp, 20 to 40 cents in some cases. On one of them the last 10 notes were a step and a half sharp with a couple ofbroken strings because of it. I think the tuning had been stretched a little too far anyway, lol.
It seems to me that lowering a pitch that much is much more difficult than raising. I discussed this with David Bonham who said it seems that lowering seems to destabilize a piano more than raising. I was able to get it down there but left it a little sharp to compensate for coming dry weather, if we have any, lol!
I found myself contemplating, why did all these out of whack Wurlitzer spinets come to me this week? as if some cosmic or spiritual predestined event had taken place. I had to go back to my first 2 years tuning pianos and the decision I made then, that even if I had to do only Wurlitzer spinets and old uprights (cringe) I would still be a piano tuner
for hire of course! After all, in my case, the worst day tuning pianos is better than the best day finishing concrete!, but not as good as the worst day fishing! See you in July.
