RPT Exams

All examinations for the Registered Piano Technician (RPT)
accreditation will be offered at the 2006 PTG Convention &
Technical Institute. A variety of exam preparation activities
are also scheduled.

To register for an exam:
1. Fill out an exam registration form and return it to the
address listed on the exam form.
2. You will be contacted before the convention with a date
and time for your tuning and/or technical exam. See the
class schedule for the time and date of the written exam.

Examination choices
Written Examination: No charge
Technical Examination: $90
Tuning Examination: $90

RPT Exam Preparation Activities
Preparing To Take The RPT Exams Seminar
Wednesday, June 21, 2006 • $65 or $50 Early Bird
This all-day session provides an intensive training opportunity
for those preparing to take the PTG Technical Exam and the
PTG Tuning Exam. Practical,hands-on learning is emphasized.
Bring your own tools. Preregistration required. Space is limited
to 36 participants.
• Technical Exam • The a.m. session is for those with a
basic knowledge of regulation and repairs. Choose which
tasks you want to practice on the exam registration form.
Mentors include RPTs Israel Stein, Debbie Cyr, Martin
Wisenbaker, Eric Nikiforoff and Ed Sutton.
• Tuning Exam • The p.m. sesssion will help you build
your aural tuning skills. Includes a short orientation session
and 40-minute skill segments. Mentors include RPTs Marc Poulin,
Doug Atkins, Paul Brown, Eric Nikiforoff and Jack Stebbins.

The Piano Technicians Guild Foundation offers up to two
scholarships each year for
Associates who have
passed two RPT
examinations and plan to take
the third exam at the annual
convention each summer.
Scholarship winners are
awarded free convention
registration and no fee for their
exam. Applications must be
received no later than
April 1 to be considered.
