Thumb injury - Has this happened to you?

I had numbness very typical of carpal tunnel and went for the tests. Negative. They said it likely originated in my neck from arthritis or possibly my elbow. It cleared up. There are many causes of hand parathesis, most are "nothing", some are serious, including diabetes. If concerned, see your doc.

Hi Michelle,
Double Yikes!
Sounds like carpal tunnel syndrome. No doctor here, but yes a impact hammer would be a good reliever of stress.
You might also take a look at the length of the hammer that you now use, and wether you are using the full length of the lever advantage. A longer and different style lever might be in order <G>

Greetings everyone. Im wondering if any of you have had the following experience. Yesterday I was tuning a piano that was over 100 cents flat with very tight tuning pins. I tune uprights left handed so a great amount of stress is placed on the inside of my hand when raising pitch. About halfway through the pitch raise, the end joint of my left thumb went to sleep and has been that way for almost 24 hours! Yikes! The only thing I can guess is that Ive somehow damaged a nerve. An impact hammer may be in my future.
This may seem like a small thing but I also teach flute and piano and Im worried
Thanks for any advice/experiences. Have a good one!
