Subject: repairing broken bass strings
I omitted the word <black>
*Let's say that the BLACK wire in the photo is the wire in the piano,
*hereto known as the 'wire'. The golden wire is the 'splice'.
The dummy pin is cut short not only for easy of coil extrication
but for forming a coil in tight quarters.

If you cut a slot from the top of the pin to the becket hole in the
shortened tuning pin, your coil is can be easily slipped off.
