In your piano, by your descriptions, now is the time, but PLEASE get
a qualified piano action rebuilder to put the new hammers, shanks,
and flanges on PROFESSIONALLY, and match the new hammer weight to the
existing action ratio, which is usually close to ideal in Hamburg
Steinways.
Do not---DO NOT---attempt to half-ass this job if you are really a
professional pianist and teacher. Pay for the best person in your
area to do the job. Period.
