One suggestion I have is to draw a line in the sand.   This means to pick a date like July 1 and everything after that put in your electronic format.   When you have some time start backward from that date and put in a little information.   This gives you a place to divide and remember.   You can't go backward for ever, but if you have a reference point to divide things it will help.
