Yes Yamaha did in fact make spinets and import them to America.   I can't speak to the plate bolts, but I doubt it.   I can tell you that ones I have seen have a sliding fall board just like a Wurlitzer spinet.

I worked for a Yamaha dealer who said they were never imported, so there must have been a bunch of people that brought them from across the pond.
