Steinway D specs

Upon further research it ALSO appears that not all D's are even the same length! Some are 8'2", some are 8'7", and not all weigh the same. I found one that weighed 677lbs, the other was only a mere 400 lbs! WTF? Also, one i tested only had 75 notes! And one had 20 bass while another D had ALL bass strings! So much for consistency! And there were like 12 D's in a concert hall and each one was totally different in length, width, and on D measured 7 feet...TALL! you had to actually stand on a ladder to play it! SO yeah, they are all so different. :)

The
striniging scales are the same as are hammer
specs,


'Spose-to-be and what is, is the problem. Good luck getting
a performance regulation out of off-the-shelf hammer
boring.


The plates are not even in the same position in each piano.
